How To Properly Clean Your Windshield

January 19, 2021

Dust, quashed bugs, and pollution. These are just some of the particles that can cause your windshield to be dirty — decreasing your visibility from behind the wheel. And when you can’t see the road clearly, the risk of getting in an accident increases, which I am sure you certainly don’t want to be in.

To maintain good visibility on the road, your best option is to ensure that your windshield remains clean and it contains no particles that may obstruct your view while driving.

Of course, the first thing to do is to prepare all the items you will need:

  • High-quality microfiber towels

  • Glass cleaning solution

  • Old dry towels or clothing (preferably non-abrasive)

Got all the items needed? Then, let’s start cleaning your windshield:

Windshield Cleaning Guide

Exterior

Step 1
Using a dry microfiber towel (or any piece of non-abrasive cloth), dust off your windshield for any particles.

Step 2
Spray the cleaning solution to your windshield from either the left or right side of the windshield and work your way to the center. Repeat this on the other side. Make sure to spray until the liquid solution covers the entire auto glass surface.

Step 3
Start wiping your windshield in this pattern: vertically then horizontally.

Tip: AVOID wiping your windshield in a circular motion. This can cause scratches if your windshield has too many particles on it.

Step 4
Using a dry microfiber towel, buff your windshield in a circular motion.

Interior

Step 1
Spread dry towels on the dashboard. You can use old towels for this or any other piece of worn-out clothing. They will act as barriers, so the liquid will not drench and damage the vinyl.

Step 2
Spray the store-bought cleaner to a microfiber towel and start scrubbing the glass vertically then horizontally.

Step 3
Get a dry microfiber cloth and buff your windshield in a circular motion.

Always Keep Your Windshield Clean

Keeping your windshield clean helps you get a better vision of the road — making it easier for you to drive and see any obstacles before they caused you any trouble. With countless particles that can reduce the visibility of your windshield, cleaning it must be a habit. This allows you to lower your risk of getting in an accident just because you can’t maintain awareness of your surroundings while driving.
